Karol Zabka

Karol Zabka is an accomplished drummer from Slovakia, whose musical journey began at the piano at age seven. Driven by curiosity and rhythm, he transitioned to drums at thirteen, sparking his lifelong passion for jazz. In 2009, Karol pursued formal training at the Jaroslav Jezek Music Conservatory in Prague, where he was mentored by renowned Czech jazz artists Martin Sulc, David Doruzka, and Jaromir Honzak. Immersed in the world of jazz, he also explored diverse musical genres, gaining a rich and eclectic foundation that would shape his distinctive style.
Graduating in 2012, Karol remained in Prague, performing in the Czech music scene and forging meaningful collaborations. With a desire to expand his musical horizons, he enrolled at the Berklee College of Music in 2014, where he earned a scholarship for his talent and dedication. At Berklee, he honed his craft under the guidance of legendary musicians Ralph Peterson, Neal Smith, and Darren Barrett, focusing intently on refining his jazz expression. In 2017, Karol was invited to record with Ralph Peterson’s Gen Next Big Band, contributing to the live album I Remember Bu, released in 2018 with special guest Donald Harrison.
Since 2021, Karol has also shared his passion for music as an educator, teaching aspiring musicians the art of rhythm and jazz. His teaching experience further enriches his perspective, inspiring his performances and deepening his connection to the music.
